Episode 80: Weight Loss Wisdom
If you’ve been in my world for a while… you’ll know that I’m not a fan of diets, because they just don’t work.
And if you’re in my world you’re also here because your hormones are on a roller coaster and creeping weight gain just might be one of your biggest frustrations….
So this might sound a little odd, but take a second to hear me out…
Today’s episode is all about Weight Loss Wisdom.
Because I’ve been in your shoes before and I know exactly how frustrating it is.
You want to put an end to this creeping weight gain that seems to keep going, no matter what you try. Then you give up after a week or two because you’re just not seeing the results.
I get it, I’ve been there.
But I want to promise you that you WON’T do what I did…
Jump on something you found because it seems popular online, or there’s a celeb spruiking it, or it’s some meal replacement or network marketing crap (seriously most of it is hype – save your $400 a month and starve yourself on Milo instead, same nutritional content…I kid you not!)
Because doing that my friend, is going to keep you on struggle street.
Don’t get me wrong, I know that weight loss can be hard, especially once you’re over 40, and who doesn’t want an easier way?
But it’s only part of the solution. Focusing on losing the weight, without a solid plan of how to keep it off, just means it will pile back on (and then some) quicker than you can pour a glass of wine and put a cheese plate together.
You’re a smart cookie and you want to put an end to this constant wanting to lose weight nightmare without starving yourself to death.

Kylie: Hello. Hello, ladies. Welcome back to the Hormone Hub podcast. I’m your host, Kylie Pinwill. And today we are going to be talking all things weight loss. So weight loss during perimenopause and menopause can be frustrating. There is no doubt about that. What has worked for us previously, stops working. We may have made no changes to our diet and the weight just keeps piling on. I’ve heard it all and I feel you because I’m a foodie. I love my food and I have half a thyroid. So my metabolism isn’t, as good as it could be. So it’s a constant work in progress. But that doesn’t [00:01:00] mean to say that it’s a given that we’re all going to put on weight. It doesn’t mean to say it’s a given that we have, we can’t lose weight.
We just need to do it differently. And I think, surely at this age and stage, we all know that diets don’t work. All right, they just don’t because, when we restrict and when we, cut things out, what happens at the end of that time is we go nuts and we put it all back on again.
And that’s, with anything, if you go back to, if you keep doing what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always got. I hope that makes sense. But definitely, we just need to tackle things a bit differently. And if you’ve been in my world for a long time, I’m not just about weight loss, I’m about how we can best support your body through this perimenopause menopause transition. However, having said that, I also get it that sometimes you just want the weight off. Now losing [00:02:00] weight, isn’t going to make you happier. Losing weight. Isn’t going to change your life, but it will, you will feel better in your own skin. And I’m a firm believer.
Like if you doesn’t matter, if you’ve got two kilos, 22 kilos. It just doesn’t matter. If you don’t feel good in your own skin, you just don’t. Full stop. Your clothes don’t feel good. You know, you feel a bit sluggish, you feel a bit blah, so we’re certainly not about a thigh gap. We’re certainly not about a flat stomach, or anything or a number on the scale for love of God.
But I do want everyone feeling good. Within themselves. Okay, so which leads to today, I thought I would talk about my weight loss wisdom program. Now, I don’t bring this up very often because it’s sort of something that, I want for you a way that we’re going to lose weight while we are preserving your metabolism and also supporting your hormones and Weight Loss Wisdom [00:03:00] does just that.
Now, this took me a long time to put together and I had been sort of really resisting any form of kind of pure weight loss program, despite the fact that I, get asked for it regularly. But Weight Loss Wisdom I put together about two years ago, and it’s done in a way that it’s safe and effective weight loss, and it also targets that stubborn hormonal weight that we tend to get around our belly that sits around our thighs as well.
So what it is, effective. It’s a rapid weight loss program. It’s designed to shift that stubborn body fat and, just keep it off as well because what I very big on the what comes after. So it’s all very well having a before and after photo. I want the after the after photo. That’s what they never show you.
So I am all about the after the after. So how does it work? So weight loss wisdom is a full phase eating [00:04:00] plan that helps us lose weight relatively quickly without the usual hunger pangs without feeling overly tired and you know, the weight gain. Typical cravings that you get when you’re dieting. So it’s based on real food.
And what I’ve done is I’ve put together specially formulated supplements to support your weight loss. So what we want to do is kickstart your metabolism. We want to naturally suppress your appetite without putting your body into starvation mode. So it’s different, I guess, from anything else out there, because it’s a holistic, it’s a food based approach to weight loss.
It’s designed to help retrain your brain. So this is going to help prevent that rebound weight gain. We want to, address that underlying kind of biochemistry that’s, hindering that fat loss or blocking that fat loss. And it’s going to, Also target your stored, excess body fat as opposed [00:05:00] to lean muscle tissue, because that’s the other diet, danger that a lot of diets fall down as you might drop weight, but you don’t want to drop that precious, body mass and that lean muscle mass.
So what, who it’s for is if you’ve got more than five kilos to lose, if you want help with that menopausal, that hormonal weight gain, it’s definitely safe if you are on medications, if you’re on HRT, if you’ve had breast cancer treatment, if you have an autoimmune condition, I’m always happy to jump on the phone, with you beforehand, just to make sure.
Thank you. But it’s definitely safe alongside all of those things. It’s designed to, yeah, like I said, get you feeling happier and more confident within yourself. It’s not about a number on the scales. You can get back into your old clothes and it’s fast and it’s lasting as well. And the thing is you’re supported every step of the way by me as well.[00:06:00]
So how it works is first up. We get you on a 10 day. So if you’ve done my 10 day kickstart, that’s where we start. And the reason is we want to sort of transition you off sugars, alcohol, processed foods, things like that. Because when we go through that kickstart process, it means that we’ve already begun the detox.
So it means when you go into that rapid weight loss phase, You, you’ve already got those stuff, that stuff out of your system. So, you’re not going to feel horrible, you know, dropping body fat and also detoxing that stuff out of your system. So the next, next sort of point is we flood your body full of healthy fats, nutrients, in preparation for, a very timed and very specific low calorie phase.
So the low calorie phase goes for a maximum of [00:07:00] six weeks. Okay. Like I said, I’m all about preserving your metabolism and, supporting your hormones as well. So what we do is we, this is sort of where the magic happens. So we propel you into this rapid weight loss. You’ll be eating lean protein, vegetables, fruits.
Unlimited salads, you know, all of those things. So you’re filling your body full of nourishing food. Depending on how much weight you’ve got to lose, we stay in this rapid sort of weight loss phase anywhere between two weeks to 40 days, so that’s essentially six weeks. So you can definitely expect to lose, say, five, up to five, six, seven kilos in, that first three or four weeks, and between say 10 and 12 kilos in that six weeks. Then the next phase is, we start to look at our maintenance. We want to stabilize your metabolism. We want to embed that new weight set point. So [00:08:00] we, we go in, we don’t stay on that low calorie diet for very long. We go in and we increase the amount of food.
We increase the variety of food. All at the same time is we’re monitoring your weight. We check in to see, are there foods that are causing inflammation, which, which triggers that weight gain. And we want to establish those new eating habits as well. So that’s really important is we don’t just go back to, life as we knew it, on the couch with the biggies in the wine.

Okay, you definitely need to, you know, commit to yourself, have the right mindset, and know that, you know, adjust the process, know that you really can make a difference change. There’s no, damage to your hormones, no nutrient deficiencies, you know, we’re doing it in a really safe, supervised way.
