Hello, hello and welcome back to this episode of The Hormone Hub. I’m your host, Kylie Pinwill, and I’m very excited about today because I don’t know about you, but my inbox has been flooded. Now, generally when I see, you know, 6,000 emails, when I open up my emails in the morning, I sort of go, ah, but I’m answering a lot of the same questions.
So I thought in today’s episode we would have a look at what are the benefits of the Well Balanced Woman program, because you know, I get asked, how will it help me? What do we do? What’s it all about? So I thought the easiest way was to do it in a podcast. So there is no doubt that during our forties and fifties, this stage of life can be challenging in many ways, but also with the right support and guidance, it can be really positive and you know, or a transformative time.
So many women going through perimenopause, menopause [00:01:00] often face physical, emotional and mental challenges. So we’ve got hormonal imbalances, weight gains, stress, anxiety, some women are worried about brain fog and cognitive decline. So rather than throwing a bandaid approach to your life, the well-balanced woman helps you address these challenges, and we do it through, you know, personalized nutrition plans.
We do it through testing. We do lifestyle recommendations. So you are not a one size fits all. So let’s just sort of like break it down and, you know, what does that look like? So when we sort of look at, you know, the physical benefits, you know, these are, you know, improved hormonal imbalance, reduced inflammation, better sleep, increased energy, better weight management and lower risk of chronic disease.
So what we do is we start off, we get the right balance of foods on your plate, okay? So there’s no supplement, there’s no magic formula or anything like that. What we need to do is get the right foundations. So this means that your body is getting the right balance of nutrients it needs to support [00:03:00] your blood sugar.
So this is gonna stop those up and down, you know, blood sugar levels, it’s gonna give you better energy, you know, more stable mood and you know, it’s also gonna help address those cravings. And definitely, you know, we do need to tweak, like even if you already eat a fairly healthy diet and you know, let’s face it, most of us know what healthy eating looks like, but we just might need to tweak the balance a bit, you know, just to make sure that that blood sugar is supported.
Okay. So, you know, we might look at supplements here, you know, we definitely look at your blood test results. You know, we have a look at, you know, there’s that big wide normal range and then that optimal range. So this is where, you know, we look at, you know, is your iron storage, you know, specifically ferritin, is that in the optimal range? If it’s not, you’re gonna be tired, so we need to fix that. Is your, you know, what’s your thyroid doing? Is your thyroid in the optimal range or is it, [00:04:00] you know, on the outside of normal? You know, this controls your metabolism, so we need to support your thyroid so it’s working properly.
Particularly, you know, if you’ve got a diagnosed hashimotos or Graves or hypothyroid, you know, we need to support that. We need to, you know, have a look at your sleep and you know, it’s, we all know we could do with a bit more sleep, particularly if we can’t go to sleep and stay asleep. Like how do we, you know, what are some of the, the habits?
How do we get rid of that busy brain that wakes us up in the night? How do we, you know, make sure we are getting a good night’s sleep? So, you know, if we sort of look at those, those basic pillars of health, uh, you know, to help our, our physical wellbeing, you know, we definitely need to get the, the nutrition uh, better managed or a better balance of nutrition, you know, get those food foundations in place. We wanna work on, you know, improving your digestive system. So if you are not [00:05:00] absorbing the nutrients from your food and eliminating them properly, you know, we’re kind of missing the mark there.
And then also, you know, any inflammation that you’ve got going on in your body. So the aches, the pains, you know, this is where we can certainly, through food and nutrition, reduce that inflammation. So how we do that is we use a food sensitivity test with every single lady who comes into the program.
And this food sensitivity test is going to identify exactly what’s not right for your body. So rather than take out unnecessary whole food groups, we are looking at, you know, what you need, okay? And what your body is reacting to. So it does make it much easier to stick to than if I gave you a blanket, all right take out all the dairy, all the gluten, all the red things, all the purple things. You know, we wanna focus on what you can eat. Then also too, like if you have a specific, you know, health challenge, you know, we need to take that into [00:06:00] consideration and how do we support that health challenge. So whether it’s, you know, you might have a diagnosis of something, you might have, you know, been through a cancer treatment, you might have type two diabetes.
You might have, you know, specifically weight to lose. You might have an autoimmune condition. So we need to work with you where you’re at. Like how do we support that health condition? You know, we’re not looking at curing anything. We’re not looking at fixing anything. But you know, if you have those things going on, you need support in that area.
So, you know, and medically we are never really given that support. So, you know, so we are looking at getting those foundations in place and supporting you at, you know, like a fundamental level.
Alright, so some of the emotional benefits of working with us is, you know, and I think these are common emotional challenges faced by, you know, women in their forties and fifties because, you know, things like stress, [00:07:00] anxiety, mood swings, you know, we’ve got sort of few things going on. We’re in a busy stage of life, so you know, it naturally comes with more stress. But we’ve also got these fluctuating hormones which create, you know, anxiety creates a bit of, you know, those mood swings. We become less tolerant, a little bit more snappy, a little bit more irritable at a few things.
So when we use the Strategies, like how do we manage our stress? What are the tools that we need to do to lower that whole, you know, and support our nervous system and bring down that, you know, survival mode. We want to get your body feeling a lot calmer. We give you the tools to help, you know, manage your anxiety.
Because often with stress and anxiety, it’s perceived, it’s our perception of what might happen that that triggers those things and they, they play around and around and around in our brains. So when we have some tools to help us calm that down, [00:08:00] you know, it also helps us support and have better improved mood and a bit more emotional stability.
It also helps build our resilience to stress. Okay. So we don’t feel so flatlined. And then what I see with the women I work with, I see their self-esteem go up, their self-confidence go up, you know, their relationships improve because you know, a lot of women. You wanna stab that partner in the eye with the fork.
So what we wanna do is, you know, have you feeling, you know, a bit more confident, you know, you are boosting your self-esteem and this definitely has, you know, that improved emotional health definitely has a positive impact on your relationships and your overall quality of life, for sure. Now as far as some of the mental benefits that we see with the ladies in the program are, you know, improved cognitive function, because we are reducing that inflammation.
So inflammation is, if you, we think of it [00:09:00] systemic, it’s all over our body. So we see improved cognitive function. Better memory and concentration. So that’s gonna help us at work, reduce brain fog, and you know, we see that improved sort of mental clarity and you know, focus as well. So, you know, and again, these can be sort of triggered by those hormonal changes in the background, but when we’re supporting our body, you know, with the right foods again, and with the lifestyle techniques, it has enormous positive impact on, you know, how we show up at work, how we show up at home, how we show up in our relationships, and, you know, it’s, it’s really important. And how we show up for ourselves, I think, you know, we need to, to focus on that as well.
