Episode 50: Letting Go of Being Busy
Do you feel like you never have enough time to do all the things you want to do?
If so, you’re not alone. Many women struggle with feeling overwhelmed and overscheduled.
We wear “busy” as a badge of honour… Fortunately, there are some simple strategies that can help you become less busy and enjoy more free time.
1. Prioritise Your Tasks
One of the best ways to become less busy is to prioritise your tasks. Take a few minutes each day to look at your to-do list and decide what’s most important. And just do this.
2. Delegate
No one can do it all alone. Don’t be afraid to ask for help from family and friends. See if there are tasks you can delegate to them so you can have more time for yourself. (I’m looking at your kids!!!)
3. Say No
Do you find yourself saying yes to too many things? Learning to say no can be difficult, but it’s important for preserving your sanity. If you have too much on your plate, don’t be afraid to turn down requests.
4. Make Time for Yourself
It’s easy to get so busy that you forget to take time for yourself. Make sure to schedule some “me time” each week to relax and rejuvenate. This could be anything from reading a book to going for a walk.
5. Learn to Let Go
Sometimes we get so caught up in trying to do everything perfectly that we forget to just let go and enjoy life.
Start with small things, like letting go of perfectionism and learning to accept imperfections.
This will help you become less busy and less stressed.
Simple things that will allow you to become less busy and enjoy more free time to do the things that make you happy.
Here’s my gift to you…

And if there’s anything that you would like me to cover, I’m always looking for ideas and yeah, would be happy to chat pretty much about anything. So just let me know. Okay. So today we are gonna talk about letting go of being busy. Are you a woman who is constantly busy? Do you feel like you’ve always got a lot on your plate and you really struggle to catch your breath?
Do you feel like you never have enough time to do all the things you want to? Okay, so if you do, you are not alone. Many women struggle with feeling overwhelmed and overscheduled, and I think, you know, partly we do it to ourselves, but you know, we are very capable and we put our hands up and we keep doing the things and we push through because we can.
But today I wanna give you some [00:02:00] simple strategies that can help you become less busy and enjoy more free time. And it also takes a load off. So number one, prioritize your tasks. Now, one of the best ways to become less busy is to prioritize what you’re actually spending time on. So take a few minutes each day, look at your to-do list, decide what’s most important.
Then do those things first. This is gonna help save you time. It’s gonna help save you energy on the things that just aren’t as important, or the things that simply don’t matter. We’re all guilty of doing the things, but we, you know, is it really important? Do we really need to do it right now?
Now, the next step, number two is delegate. No one can do it all alone. So don’t be afraid to ask for help from families, from friends. People don’t tend to offer, but if you put your hand up and say, Hey, I’m really struggling over here, people often are [00:03:00] more than happy to step in and, you know, step up. If you have teenage or adult children living in your home, delegate, get them to step up. And at the end of the day, we are teaching them to become more independent because they know how to use the washing machine, they know how to use the dishwasher, they know how to order online groceries, even if it’s with your credit card. So delegate and you know, by delegating you’re gonna free up more time for yourself.
Number three, say no. So if you find yourself saying yes to a lot of things, learning to say no can be hard because you know we are people pleasers. I get that. But it is important for you to preserve your sanity. If you have too much on your plate, don’t be afraid to say no. And, I’ve said this before, no is a complete sentence.
You don’t have to justify your no. Just go with no. No thank you if you wanna be [00:04:00] polite.
Number four, make time for yourself. It’s easy to get so busy that you forget to take time for yourself. So be sure to schedule in some me time each week to relax, to rejuvenate. Now, this could be anything. It could be from reading a book to going for a walk.
To taking that pottery class you’ve wanted to do, to starting a dancing class that you’ve been wanting to do. But choose something that lights you up, something that brings you joy. Not something you should do, not something you know you ought to be doing, but doing it because you enjoy doing it for you.
And number five, learn to let go. Sometimes we get so caught up in trying to do all the things we try, you know, we want everything to be perfect. We do it ourselves because someone else won’t do it as well as we do. Or it’s quicker for us just to do it ourselves. [00:05:00] It’s time to let that go, let it go, and start enjoying life.
Okay, so start with the small things like letting go of perfectionism. Start to accept the imperfect stuff. The washing might be done, it might be folded, might not be the way you would do it, but it’s done right? Now this is gonna help you feel less busy and less stressed, and this can be in a workplace situation as well.
Now by following these tips, you should be able to become less busy. And enjoy more free time. So ladies, don’t forget to take care of yourself and make more time for the things that make you happy. There you go. That’s my rant for today. I’ll talk to you next week. Bye now.
